My 16 Silverado is approaching the allowable miles on my lease and I have been reviewing my options. The best move if I wanted to keep leasing is another Silverado as the rebates suck up a lot of my negative equity but the dealership I work at recently got in a nice Lightning Red 2015 WRX with 40k miles. Not sure if I want to join the Subaru gang (or take a longer loan)but I took it for a long test drive today and it was pretty fun. Decisions...Decisions.

You can still carry 4x8 sheets of whatever if you get the Safari rack.

I would hate to drive a truck everyday, except maybe the new Ridgeline. I couldn’t do it, unless I could only have one vehicle. Even then I would probably still own a car and rent a truck when needed.

Compromise: Flex EcoBoost. AWD and turbo fun, plus it can carry a lot of stuff. Critically, it won’t be as frustratingly miserable as dailying a chevy, or as risky as a used subaru, which sounds roughly akin to using someone’s soggy gym shorts to wipe your hands with after washing.

Adulting is hard (and overrated). What’s the goal for the next ride and reasonable ownership period? Gonna flip for something else in a year or two or hold longer? Is it your only car?
If you don’t use the functionality of a truck, I can’t imagine suffering the drive dynamics year round as a car person.

Lol been meaning to do a follow- up post since I ended up purchasing the car (somewhat regrettably). Never needed the truck but it was nice to have and the lease payments at the time were super aggressive (the y’re almost $200/mo higher now). And the K1 series S ilverado that I had was a dream on the road in terms of ride quality, nvh, and at 17mpg avg the gas mileage wasn’t that bad plus it was an absolute beast in the snow.
